Marine Plywood - Sheets
Marine Plywood - general information
We manufacture a broad selection of marine-grade plywood for various applications, including hulls, decks, interiors, and flooring, available in teak, mahogany, and other fine woods.
1. Sheet Sizes (L x W cm):
The first dimension refers to the length or veneer direction of the plywood sheet.
Up to approximately 10% of the total delivery quantity may consist of smaller formats, which may be supplied without any price reduction. We only supply the sheets in standard sizes; custom cuts are not available.
2. Dimensional Tolerances:
These apply to sanded plywood sheets with respect to overall thickness and dimensions, in accordance with EN 315 / EN 324-2.
3. Veneer Thicknesses:
The thicknesses of the face veneers are given as gross values, i.e., before pressing and sanding.
The surfaces of the plywood sheets are sanded by us using 100 or 120 grit.
Prior to priming the sheets, the customer/processor must perform a final sanding. Ensure that any contaminants and sanding residues are carefully removed from the raw wood surface before priming.
4. Quality of Face Veneers:
The classification based on surface appearance is regulated by the EN 635-1/2/3 standard. The first letter or number refers to the quality of the front side, while the second letter or number after the slash denotes the back side.
Examples of combinations = Front/Back:
A/AB or I/I-II
Very good, clean front side / Good, clean back side
A/B or I/II
Very good, clean front side / Small defects allowed on the back side
A/BB or I/III
Very good, clean front side / Larger defects allowed on the back side
Natural color and structural variations, as well as irregularities, are inherent to the natural material wood and therefore are not grounds for complaint.
5. Bonding:
All of our plywood sheets are bonded with AW 100 = weatherproof, waterproof, and boil-proof adhesive, in accordance with EN 314-1 / EN 314-2 / Class 3: Exterior use.
6. Plywood Joints:
Longer sheets can be produced by cross scarfing, with or without adhesive. For wider sheets, lengthwise scarfing is available upon request. The joints are made and bonded according to G.L. regulations.
Lengthwise or cross scarf joints
With or without adhesive
4-10 mm: 1:10 / 12-32 mm: 1:8
7. Cross Cuts:
For an additional charge, right-angle cross cuts are available with our vertical panel saw.
The tolerance is +/- 1 mm per meter.
8. Storage:
Plywood sheets must always be stored flat on adequate support timbers and protected from excessive/low humidity, direct exposure to sunlight, rain, and cold. Proper storage prevents warping, swelling, and shrinking.
